Nanny Baby Breathing Monitor
Enjoy greater peace of mind while your baby sleeps with the Nanny baby breathing monitor from Jablotron, available in New Zealand from Pacific GSM. Nanny is an EU-certified Class IIb medical device. A sensor pad under the mattress follows your baby's breathing movements, and Nanny alerts you straight away if it stops detecting them.
Nanny is developed by Jablotron, a European manufacturer with its own research, development and production facilities. Nanny monitors are used in hospitals and homes worldwide. They are suitable for babies from 1 kg, so they can be used for premature and low-birth-weight babies as well as full-term babies.
Supplied to Starship Children's Hospital
Pacific GSM has supplied Nanny breathing monitors to Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland for many years.
What is Nanny?
Nanny is a certified breathing monitor designed for use in hospitals and at home. It warns you that your baby's breathing has stopped or slowed, which may occur in young infants, for example due to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), suffocation or illness. It does not replace proper childcare and supervision.

How Nanny works
A soft, non-contact sensor pad sits under your baby's mattress and picks up breathing movements, with nothing attached to your baby. A green light flashes with each breath detected. If no breathing movement is detected for more than 20 seconds, or the breathing rate drops below 8 breaths per minute, Nanny sounds an alarm and shows a warning light so you can check on your baby straight away. Nanny runs on 2 x AA batteries, has no Wi-Fi and emits no radiation.
